Beverley Callard has renewed her vows in an intimate gathering for a vow renewal with her husband Jon McEwan in Spain.
The 64-year-old actress played the iconic character Liz McDonald in ITV’s Coronation Street for over 30 years before leaving the show.
She was a long way from home on the cobbles as she renewed her wedding vows in Spain recently.
The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star first married Jon McEwan in 2010 after he romantically proposed to her in sunny Spain.
Beverly and Jon, 56, have gone strength to strength and decided to renew their vows in front of 30 guests to celebrate their decade of marriage.
The wedding took place in a beautiful villa in Mojácar in southern Spain.
Some of the lucky guests that got to see the renewal take place included former I’m A Celeb campmate and West End star, Ruthie Henshall.
Guests on the day were also treated to champagne as well as Spanish delicacies including sangria and tapas on a special day.
The 64-year-old actress wore a stunning Stella McCartney dress to mark the celebration where she admitted the renewal was better than the actual day itself.
She told OK!: “We had the best time. It truly surpassed our dreams. It was the perfect day.
“People keep telling us it was the best party they’d ever been to.”
The legendary soap actress had initially planned to go to a beach bar where Jon had proposed a decade before.
However, due to Covid restrictions, they had planned a party at the villa instead.
Speaking about the wedding day, 10 years ago, Beverly said: “[The wedding] was very formal and organised to strict timing”.
“The day goes by so fast whereas this was exactly what we wanted and really relaxed.”
Jon was mentioned a lot by Beverly during her time on I’m A Celeb last year where he was nicknamed ‘Mega Sh*g’ and the pair suggested renewing their vows for when she left the ITV reality show.
When asked why she wanted to renew her wedding vows with Jon, Beverly told The Mirror: “Last October, Jon and I had been married for 10 years.
“We’ve been together for 20-odd years but we’d been married for 10. Lockdown meant we couldn’t celebrate.
“Then Jon actually proposed to me again when I came out of I’m A Celeb. He said he was so proud of me and if we weren’t married he’d ask me to do it all over again, so why not?”
