And Will Jackson, Managing Director of AudioUK, which organises the awards, dubbed the twosome “brilliant” ahead of the pair pulling off a successful and entertaining awards ceremony – much to the surprise of delighted viewers.

He said: “We know this brilliant pair of presenters have been keen to work together for a while now, so what better way to kick off such an exciting new collaboration than looking back over the last year in audio, recognising and celebrating the outstanding achievement in audio and radio production. It’s going to be a fun and entertaining show.”

After appearing together as co-hosts in a professional setting, the pair cemented their status as genuine pals when they appeared together on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox earlier this year.

Jeremy, best known as a BBC Radio 2 lunchtime host and the host of Channel 5’s Eggheads, sparked controversy during his appearance on the show as the pair hunkered down to watch a series of popular TV shows.

As the hilarious duo were watching MTV show Catfish, fans were stunned to hear the normally well-spoken presenter use a shocking slur.

The outburst came after Snoochie reacted to someone wanting to move in with someone they had only spoken to online.

She said: “How do we talk about moving in with someone without having met them?”

It was then that Jeremy unleashed his wrath.

“I’m glad you’re saying that because I’m an old person and I can’t say what I’m thinking which is what the actual [bleep] is going on,” he exclaimed.

It’s fair to say viewers were shocked at Jeremy’s use of the F-word.

Many were shocked by his language, but others thought it was funny and the “highlight” of their week.?”

Even though it’s unclear how their relationship came about, Jeremy later opened up about his time on the show, saying: “I am friends with Snoochie Shy and I got to spend time with her which is great.”

The presenter has since addressed the incident. Saying: “It was just one of those moments you blurt something out. If they left it in [the show] it was probably OK. That’s just how it goes.”
