Whilst many know Snoochie Shy from her successful career as a BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ, she’s currently stealing the spotlight on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
Millions of fans have watched her undertake a series of gruesome challenges on the show as she fights to be Queen of the Castle.
But despite the 29-year-old’s glittering career in showbiz rubbing shoulders with the likes of Rita Ora and Miss Dynamite, fans will be shocked hear about her surprise friendship with fellow BBC Radio Broadcaster Jeremy Vine.
Despite the 27-year age gap, Snoochie, real name Cheyenne Davide, and Vine, 56, have appeared in a string of gigs together and their friendship is showing no signs of slowing down. Let’s take a look at their unlikely friendship…
Co-hosts
The British public were first introduced to the unlikely pair when the broadcasting duo were announced as hosts of the Audio Productions Awards in 2020.
The annual ceremony, which honours top producers and presenters behind the UK’s very best audio content including podcasts, radio, audiobooks and sound design.
Snoochie Shy said at the time: “Sooo gassed to be hosting the APA’s with a legend like THEEEE Jeremy Vine!!! It’s gunna be jokes!!!”
And Will Jackson, Managing Director of AudioUK, which organises the awards, dubbed the twosome “brilliant” ahead of the pair pulling off a successful and entertaining awards ceremony – much to the surprise of delighted viewers.
He said: “We know this brilliant pair of presenters have been keen to work together for a while now, so what better way to kick off such an exciting new collaboration than looking back over the last year in audio, recognising and celebrating the outstanding achievement in audio and radio production. It’s going to be a fun and entertaining show.”
Gogglebox
After appearing together as co-hosts in a professional setting, the pair cemented their status as genuine pals when they appeared together on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox earlier this year.
Jeremy, best known as a BBC Radio 2 lunchtime host and the host of Channel 5’s Eggheads, sparked controversy during his appearance on the show as the pair hunkered down to watch a series of popular TV shows.
As the hilarious duo were watching MTV show Catfish, fans were stunned to hear the normally well-spoken presenter use a shocking slur.
The outburst came after Snoochie reacted to someone wanting to move in with someone they had only spoken to online.
She said: “How do we talk about moving in with someone without having met them?”
It was then that Jeremy unleashed his wrath.
“I’m glad you’re saying that because I’m an old person and I can’t say what I’m thinking which is what the actual [bleep] is going on,” he exclaimed.
It’s fair to say viewers were shocked at Jeremy’s use of the F-word.
Many were shocked by his language, but others thought it was funny and the “highlight” of their week.?”
Even though it’s unclear how their relationship came about, Jeremy later opened up about his time on the show, saying: “I am friends with Snoochie Shy and I got to spend time with her which is great.”
The presenter has since addressed the incident. Saying: “It was just one of those moments you blurt something out. If they left it in [the show] it was probably OK. That’s just how it goes.”
