Inside Sarah Harding's pop princess lifestyle before settling down in the country

Sarah Harding has tragically died, aged 39, with the news being confirmed on social media by her heartbroken mother, Marie Hardman.

The late singer was catapulted to fame overnight after winning ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals alongside her bandmates, Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.

Girls Aloud went on to tear up the music charts over the course of their ten-year-long career before calling it a day in 2013 but Sarah also ripped up the typical lifestyle of a pop princess, often releasing her wild child, becoming known as Hardcore Harding for her love of life and making the most of it.

During the early days of her career, Sarah enjoyed all London had to offer, heading out to the latest showbiz parties and movie premieres before jetting off to Ibiza.

Sarah previously reflected on her partying, explaining that before finding fame with Girls Aloud, she wasn’t a fan of getting drunk.

Opening up about her demons in 2012, Sarah said: “The drinking was more to give me more confidence, especially when I was going through my little wild-child stage.”

She added: “It was trying to maintain that f***wit image that got me in all this trouble.”

The late star had been open about her battles, revealing that she had been to rehab to help her break her habit, saying: “I’m just glad I survived, my drinking was out of control and I was addicted to sleeping pills, it was an awful combination.”

In order to put alcohol behind her, Sarah jetted to South Africa and checked into a rehab clinic in Cape Town back in October 2010.

Sarah had been living in London’s most elite areas including Camden and Primrose Hill before upping sticks and fleeing the Capital in favour of a more rural lifestyle.

While she had grown up in Manchester, Sarah opted to move to leafy Buckinghamshire with her beloved dogs and cats, opening up about her decision, she said: “When I lived in London there was something going on every night of the week and you never wanted to miss out. I always wanted to be the life and soul.”

The Sun quotes Sarah going on to say: “That’s not my priority anymore, I’ve got five animals at home, I love animals — I think they are the best therapy ever.”

In her final few months, Sarah left rural Buckinghamshire and moved back up north to be closer to her mum, Marie, while being treated for breast cancer.

The singer eventually moved in with Marie while being treated at the Christie Foundation in Didsbury, Manchester, before opening up in her autobiography, Hear Me Out, that she had been hoping to move into her own flat, not too far from her mums home.
