Inside Stacey Solomon's stunning home as she gives it major makeover before giving birth

Stacey Solomon has become a national treasure in her own right, after rising to fame on 2009’s X Factor she has gone from strength to strength and is now a regular face on our screens.

As a Loose Women panellist and all-around TV personality, Stacey has had a successful career and as her 31st birthday approaches, she should be thrilled with how far she’s come.

She is also one-half of a #couplegoals relationship as she paired up with former EastEnders star Joe Swash, with who she shares a two-year-old son called Rex and pregnant Stacey also has a baby daughter on the way.

The couple also resides with Stacey’s sons from previous relationships, Zachary, 13, and nine-year-old Leighton.

The family all live together inside their £1.2m Essex pad which has become the envy of all of her 4.7m Instagram followers.

Stacey has gained an even bigger following her thrifty nature of transforming her home into a budget-friendly beautiful residence.

Let’s take a closer look at what she’s been up to…

Doorway

The latest switch-up in the Solomon house is the magical doorway which she decks out depending on the season or occasion.

As we gear up to celebrate all things spooky, she has opted for a Halloween feel with self-painted pumpkins galore.

She also added a homemade wreath that one of her pals put together for her along with some £7 hay she bought in bundles.

Last December, she decked it out with wintery items to give a super-cute Christmassy feel.

As Stacey gets ready to pop, Stace and Joe are beyond excited to get to meet their baby daughter.

In preparation for her arrival, the pair got her bedroom ready and fit for a princess with plenty of pink and flowers everywhere.

Going from what was quite a dull room, this room has had a bold transformation and is filled with girly decor.

Rex’s room

Stacey’s youngest, Rex, showed fans on Instagram just how happy he was with his new bedroom.

His beaming smile and cute giggles were showcased to Stacey’s followers as she filmed him walking around his newly done up bedroom.

The mum-of-three created a playful room with a grey-and-white theme and additional animal additions.

Stacey does the majority of the DIY herself, with the help of trustee Joe too, and often hits up shops such as Amazon, Dunelm and IKEA for her bargain buys.

She showed the whole process from start to finish, including where she used frog tape to section off the wall for the sectioned areas of her contract feature wall.

The savvy mum added £16.99 Panda shelving unit from Home Zone Store, some affordable £10 hexagonal lights and raved about the sweet £8 soft toy zebras that she put up over the fireplace.

Blue bathroom

None of this has been easy for Stacey, although she does make it look like she is such a natural at DIY.

When they bought the Essex pad, they knew they had their work cut out for them but were ready for the challenge.

A perfect example of this was the blue bathroom, which was dusty and dated but Stacey had the eye to transform this into a lovely loo.

When she moved in Stacey said she loved the original detailing on the toilet and the sink so decided to keep those and base the room around it.

By adding corner shelving, which she’d picked up from Amazon for £35.99 for two, and Primark pampas grass, it complimented the pale blue walls perfectly.

Stacey even donned a blue outfit to show off the finished product which was she beyond happy with.

Conservatory ceiling

Stacey transformed her conservatory ceiling with a salvaged slab of wood and some £11.99 garlands from Amazon.

On Instagram, she told fans: “So my friend found me this amazing slice of wood…

“So instead of hanging the flowers from the metal pole, I’m going to sort of stick them across this wood and then hang the whole thing up!”

She later decided to add some lights to the feature as well.

She continued: “Taking so much longer than I thought because I staple gunned the flowers on and then thought it really needs some dangly lights…

“So I’ve found some cable, lamp holders and bulbs and called my dad over. For supervision.”

To finish it off she spray-painted the old white lamp holders black and created a stunning new installation that emphasises the height of the room.

Staircase of dreams

She got rid of the red carpet but keeps the old bannisters

A big part of what Stacey wanted to do was emphasise any previous special elements of the home, she didn’t want to just rip everything up and start again.

She worked around any old elements in order to keep some character to the home and to also stay on that shoe-string.

And this is exactly what Miss Solomon did with her staircase.

She sandblasted the wood and brought out all of the intricate carvings while also giving the stairs a modern look.

The new look totally brightens up the area

She shared a snap of the stairs on Instagram and said: “I love these stairs and all of the detail on them so much but the dark wood and red carpet made them feel so closed in…

“I can’t wait to shine them up, treat them, and stain and made, add a light runner and chrome rods too.”

She also brought the beams back to their original colour to brighten up the area.

Wendy house

The wendy house is now a play area of dreams

Pickle Cottage isn’t just beautiful inside, it boasts wonderful grounds as well and nestles in 2.5 acres of gardens.

The house also came with a wendy house which is basically just a mini version of the family home.

When they moved in it was a little run down and shabby but this didn’t last long as eager beaver Stacey jumped on.

After painting it a different colour, the star said: “I decided to try a different lighter colour because I thought if it looks wrong, it’s easy to change it back to black.”

The grey lick of paint gave the Tudor-style cabin a fresh feel and brought it into the current decade.

She also added a ‘Little Pickle Cottage’ doormat and made a DIY flower basket to put at the front.
