ITV viewers beg bosses to replace Lorraine Kelly with Andy Peters as he hosts show

Andi Peters stood in for Lorraine as she went on her Christmas break, and fans have been begging ITV to give him his own show.

Absent from her weekday morning show, Lorraine Kelly was nowhere to be seen when Andi Peters took over presenting duties.

Before the 51-year-old star took over the GMB studio at 9am, Adil Ray said: “Andi’s in for Lorraine at 9 o’clock, in the GMB studio.”

“It’s nice to be here,” Andi said. “I’ll be doing Lorraine from here, obviously here at ITV we’ve enhanced our procedures, which means I’ll be using this studio to do Lorraine instead of using the Lorraine studio, which means it protects our staff and us as well.”

He went on to tell Adil and Charlotte about what’s coming up on his show, before saying that he wants them to give the desk “a full anti-bac wipe down”.

Fans of the TV presenter have been urging ITV and GMB to give Andi his own show, with many taking to Twitter to gush over the star.

One said: “Can we see more Andi Peters presenting in the future? The guy really does need his own show!”

A third said: “Yay it’s about time Andi had his own show again – great to see you step in for Lorraine.”

“Andi Peters brilliant please can he present on the main show he is the saviour of this boring programme,” said a fourth.

While a fifth said: “Lorraine and GMB please can we have more of Andi flying the giant desk solo – loving this today!”

Andi has a long history of television presenting, and rose to prominence in 1989 as a presenter on Children’s BBC for The Broom Cupboard. He hosted the show for four years before presenting Live & Kicking with Emma Forbes and John Barrowman.

He has also worked as a TV producer, for which his credits are ITV’s The Noise, BBC’s Top of the Pops, and Channel 4’s Shipwrecked.

Since April 2014, the 51-year-old TV star has hosted competitions on the breakfast news programme Good Morning Britain, and he also presents Andi Peters’ Food Fest on teleshopping channel QVC.
