Jake Gyllenhaal admits he's turning his back on baths as body 'naturally' cleans itself

Jake Gyllenhaal has jumped on the bandwagon by becoming the latest celeb to admit bathing isn’t “necessary.”

The 40-year-old star, who is a regular at the gym and is known for his action-packed movies such as Nightcrawler and Spiderman Far From Home, made the shocking confession in an interview with Vanity Fair.

The Hollywood actor is currently the face of a new fragrance by Prada and said his body would “naturally” clean itself.

He admitted: “More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times.

“I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that.

“But I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin, maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves.”

It comes as fellow Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher made a similar hygiene confession last month.

Speaking on an episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert’ The Two And A Half Men actor said he just uses soap and water on his “armpits and crotch daily.”

He appeared alongside his wife Mila Kunis, who admitted she only washes her face twice daily and would only bathe their kids when they could see the dirt on them.

Elsewhere, The Good Place actress Kristen Bell backed Kutcher’s claims by admitting they only wash their children when they remember to.

The news comes as Jake confessed he was a fan of the popular cooking show The Great British Bake Off.

In particular, one of its judges Prue Leith who is his favourite.

He told PA: “I have always cooked and I’ve always loved to cook, and there are many things that I have hoped and wished that I would be able to do, that I had always deemed in my mind to be impossible.

“And so now I get to try and make the perfect one for myself.”

So could the Hollywood star be making an appearance on the baking show anytime soon?

He continued: “In my mind, there’s literally nothing that can beat The Great British Baking Show (the US version of The Great British Bake Off).

“So no, the answer to that is no. But I do hope to one day meet Paul Hollywood.

“Though Prue is my favourite. I’m mesmerised by her spectacles. Her coats or spectacles change and it’s almost as if they change every shot.”
