Celebrity chef James Martin, 49, has thanked A&E staff for “stitching him up” after an accident.
He tweeted his gratitude on Thursday, writing: “Thanks to the A&E crew for stitching me up… bl***y stars literally… thank you.”
James didn’t say what had happened, but concerned fans wondered if he had hurt himself in the kitchen.
“Hazard of the job James?” quipped singer songwriter Paul Young.
“Hope you are feeling better. What did you bump into to see stars. When I was a child I was playing and ran into a post. You do literally see stars,” one follower wrote.
Another said: “Since being on Warfarin I treated myself to these no cut gloves amazing. Not afraid to use sharp knives now. Hope you heal soon.”
A third follower shared a gruesome story, writing: “I was watching your show a couple of weeks ago while cooking and chopped off the tip of my finger, blood everywhere and pinged like mad, hope whatever you chopped off heals as quickly as mine has.”
One of the UK’s most recognisable celebrity chefs, James actually wanted to pursue a very different career path many years ago.
Speaking in a recent interview, James revealed he originally had his heart set on being a Formula 1 driver.
“I did want to be a racing driver but my a**e is too big!” the celebrity chef told Manchester Gossip.
He added: “Don’t forget I’m a farmer’s kid, the closest I got to a go cart was a massive Ferguson tractor.
“It was never going to happen for me.”
James is best known for having hosted Saturday Kitchen for 10 years until 2016, and now hosts Saturday Morning with James Martin on ITV.
He appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005, partnered with Camilla Dallerup. The couple finished a respectable fourth.
He is also a regular on This Morning, where he shares recipes with viewers.
