Jason Manford blasts 'selfish' Brits panic-buying fuel after being left stuck at gig

Jason Manford has blasted ‘selfish’ Brits who are panic-buying fuel after revealing he was left stuck after a gig.

The comedian, 40, revealed in a now-deleted tweet that he had been left stranded in London amid the supposed ‘fuel crisis’, which was sparked by reports that some BP chains were running low on fuel due to a HGV driver shortage in the UK.

Petrol garages across the country have since been inundated with drivers, with some stations forced to close and turn customers away after being emptied of fuel.

Posting to Twitter, Jason blasted the “selfish” panic-buyers who left him stranded after a gig in London over the weekend.

Explaining that he feared potentially being unable to refuel on his journey home, Jason wrote: “Well can’t risk driving home tonight from London so gonna stay down here.

“Keeping fingers crossed that people will wake up tomorrow and realise their selfish way! #Doubtful”.

Jason has since deleted the tweet.

Asked why he erased the complaint by a fan, the former 8 Out of 10 Cats panellist replied: “Can’t be a**ed with hassle.”

Jason isn’t the only celebrity to have been inconvenienced by the ‘petrol crisis’.

In a tweet on Saturday, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two presenter Rylan Clark-Neal expressed his own frustration at the “petrol drought”.

Rylan wrote: “I’ve been through enough this year, really don’t need this petrol drought to make a sly trip to the M&S garage at midnight in a dressing gown taken away from me tbh.”

The topic was also a big point of conversation on breakfast television, with Good Morning Britain fans accusing the show of ‘scaremongering’ amidst the reported shortages.

GMB hosts Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell also put the government on blast as they pulled a no-show on Monday’s programme.
