Jeremy Clarkson takes swipe at Brian May as his beloved badgers cause driving mayhem

Jeremy Clarkson has slammed Queen sensation and badger activist Brian May after the protected species continue to cause mayhem on a Lincolnshire road.

The 61-year-old car fanatic has been brutally honest about his opinion for the furry friends as viewers of his Amazon Prime Video farming show Clarkson’s Farm will know all too well.

But the Top Gear star took a fresh swipe at the fondly named “pests” after he encountered the mayhem they caused on a main road in the heart of Lincolnshire.

The Grand Tour presenter shared his annoyance at the family of badgers who have taken up residence at the roadside spot and lashed out at the rock sensation in the process.

The driving sensation shared his polarising opinions in his weekly column for The Sun this week after he researched the carnage these badgers have caused to the disrupted traffic for the last 18 months.

He penned: “A road in Lincolnshire has been subjected to stop/go traffic control for 18 months because badgers have made a home under it and it’s against the law to move them.”

“Obviously, a badger enthusiast such as Brian May would think this is perfectly acceptable,” he joked, “So, why doesn’t he go and stand there with a red and green lollipop until the annoying hedgehog-munchers move out?

“If he doesn’t fancy it, don’t worry – I know a man who could solve the problem in about ten minutes flat …”

The hitmaker has been a wildlife advocate for several years and helped co-founder of the Save Me Trust charity for protected animals in the wild.

It has been reported that the rocker has a particular soft spot for the black and white animals, but it wasn’t until 2011 that Brian became heavily invested in the protection of the species.

When badger culling was at its peak, the singer songwriter was a leading voice in the fight against the needless slaughter of badgers, who are renowned for causing trouble to farmlands across the country.

This comes after the first-time farmer faced a wave of backlash after “silly left wing newspapers” took his controversial comment out of context.

Jeremy clarified his dividing comment to his 7.3 million followers on Twitter which caused quite the stir on Tuesday after he “hit out” at scientists over the future of the coronavirus pandemic.

He wrote: “I know the Guardian and other silly left wing papers are s**t stirring. But what I said was that ‘IF WE HAVE COVID FOR EVER’ we are just going to have to open up stuff and accept that if we die, we die.”
