Jeremy Kyle says ITV stars reached out to him after show axed – but many others didn't

Jeremy Kyle says celebrities including Piers Morgan and Kate Garraway reached out to him after his show was axed – but there was a long list of stars who gave him the cold shoulder.

The 56-year-old has broken his silence and revealed he sought help for anxiety after the headlines caused him to seek refuge inside his home.

He told The Sun he was left “completely devastated” and spiralled into depression after The Jeremy Kyle show was stopped following the death of guest Steve Dymond.

Mr Dymond had turned to the show for help to prove he hadn’t cheated on his ex but failed a lie detector test.

The construction worker overdosed while suffering an underlying heart problem, and an inquest into his death remains ongoing.

My Dymond’s family claim his time on the show was too much for him to cope with.

When The Jeremy Kyle show was axed, it’s believed 100 people lost their jobs, including crew members and producers.

Jeremy also revealed the day he found out about the show being binned was when he and his fiance discovered they were expecting a baby, and they later welcomed their son Oliver into the world.

The TV presenter spent ‘months hiding in his home’, keeping the “curtains closed” and had to ignore his ‘instinct’ of defending himself.

Despite his long time at the network, Jeremy says many senior executives and celebrities distanced themselves when the show was cancelled.

He said: “It didn’t take long for some people I’ve known for many, many years to just disappear. Some people were brilliant — Piers Morgan reached out straight away because he’s that sort of guy, and he was brilliant.

“Kate Garraway, who is just extraordinary and has been through the most awful time herself recently, still takes time to get in touch, and I’ve helped her with her kids, too. Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were amazing, so was Rob Rinder, and Declan Donnelly.

“But there were also lots who just never got in touch again even though we had worked together for so many years — it’s very, very telling.

“It’s a strange situation because you don’t really want to talk to people when something like that happens, but then you’re annoyed when they don’t call too.”

After seeing a therapist, Jeremy added he was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and sought treatment.

The star is now launching a show on talkRADIO and hopes listeners will accept him for who he is.
