Jesy Nelson has been updating fans on her upcoming solo debut for weeks, including teasing her first single.
The former Little Mix singer unleashed a huge promotional campaign and has her sights of stardom in the States.
However, reports claim that her plans may have been stalled after Nicki Minaj pulled out of the MTC VMAs.
Rumours of Starship singer Nicki collaborating with Jesy on her debut single came about weeks ago.
But a source claimed to The Sun that she has pulled out after the pair were reportedly set to perform Jesy’s solo single Boyz at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards in New York.
The insider says Jesy headed to the US for the performance but now is forced to make other plans.
It’s believed her single is not yet ready and is still having the ‘final touches’ put on it.
It comes after it was thought she may release it to coincide with Little Mix’s 10-year anniversary, after leaving the band last December.
The Daily Star has approached Jesy’s representatives for comment.
A source told the paper: “Jesy and Nicki were in talks to perform Boyz at the VMAs and Jesy even headed out to the US especially.
“However, Nicki has now dropped out, meaning that idea is now in the bin and Jesy’s big reveal has been pushed back even further.
“The single is still having the final touches put on it and is still hopefully on course to be out later this month.
“But given the delays so far, no one wants to put an exact date on it just in case.”
The source added Jesy is “raring to go” but the situation is “out of her control” now.
The star wants Boyz to be released with a bang and the setback “seems to losing a bit of traction.
It comes after rumours earlier this week thought the delay was due to Nicki struggling to find time to record her part for the single.
But those close to both singers say that’s not the case.
Girl group Little Mix, now made up of Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, announced earlier this month a new album to celebrate 10 years after they formed on X-Factor.
Between Us will be released on November 12, with the girls “so excited” to share new music with fans.
