John is set to appear in BBC’s sci-fi drama, Doctor Who, with BBC bosses sparking a frenzy across Merseyside with many believing that a UFO had landed in Liverpool.
Bosses projected a large spacecraft in the night sky over the city in a stunt to promote the new series of Doctor Who.
They chose Merseyside as that is where John, the Time Lord’s new companion – hails from and where the opening episode will be set.
However, locals failed to grasp that it was a stunt last week and thought the Sontaran spaceship that was seen over George’s Pier Head – was a real UFO.
John who will be playing Tardis traveller Dan Lewis in the show – posted a shot of the spaceship too and tweeted: “Mysterious aircraft seen over the Liverpool docks!”
The latest season that sees Jodie Whittaker step out as the Doctor for the final time will be broadcast in several weeks.
Speaking about Whittaker recently, co-star John said: “I know everyone knows it, but as everyone says, Jodie is phenomenal.
“The way she carries this show, the amount of responsibility that she wears so lightly on her shoulders – is staggering. The run’s coming to an end soon and we were all talking earlier about how weird it will be not seeing each other every week.”
