Johnny Depp’s Hollywood demise to be laid bare in three part documentary series

Johnny Depp’s rise and fall from grace is set to be examined in a new three part ITV documentary, according to reports.

The Hollywood superstar, 57, was once one of the most in demand actors of all time, however, after his High Court battle against the publishers of The Sun last year has left his reputation in tatters.

Depp took legal action against the publishers of The Sun for libel over an article which branded him a “wife beater” in relation to his volatile relationship with Amber Heard.

Not only did Depp lose the case with the Judge Mr Justice Nicol saying the 2018 article was “substantially true”, but he also laid bare countless details of his erratic life.

During the trial in which Ms Heard was the star witness, Depp’s heavy use of drugs and alcohol was exposed to the world.

A TV insider told The Sun: “They will make for excruciating viewing for Depp who’d probably wish the whole disastrous saga would go away.

“But the story of how a multi- millionaire who was box office gold was the author of his own downfall is just too sensational a subject not to explore.”

According to the publication the show is being produced for ITV and has a working title off Depp vs Heard.

The trial found that 12 of the 14 alleged incidents of domestic violence had occurred.

Following the case, Warner Bros dropped Depp from their Harry Potter spin off Fantastic Beasts.

Disney also cut ties with Depp from their Pirates of the Caribbean films.

While film studios are turning their back on Depp, fashion giant Dior have stood by him and kept him as the face of their Dior Sauvage aftershave.

However, the court heard in 2020 how behind the glossy Hollywood curtain, Depp’s life has been one of illegal drugs and excess.

Depp said he was not addicted to any illegal drugs, however, confirmed he would regularly abuse pills, cocaine and marijuana.

According to court documents recovered addict Sir Elton John tried to step in and help Depp.

An email released showing Depp was trying to turn his life around read: “My dearest Elton, 100 f***ing days of clarity for an old reprobate t*** like me.

“No one would ever have believed it possible but for a select few, most importantly you.”

He signed off the email: “I would have been swallowed up by the monster were it not for you.”

Johnny confirmed that he did manage to get sober though later relapsed.
