Kate Garraway and Susanna slammed for not wearing black after Philip's death

Good Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Suzanna Reid have been slammed by viewers for not wearing black on Monday morning’s breakfast show.

Many presenters have been wearing black as a mark of respect following Prince Philip’s death.

The Duke of Edinburgh died last Friday aged 99 – and the vast majority of news outlets have been commended for making their presenters wear a sombre colour as expected when a member of the monarchy dies.

But Kate wore a blue dress and Susanna opted for a purple dress as the GMB stars came under fire from disgruntled viewers of the show.

“So why is @kategarraway and @susannareid100 not wearing black on @GMB yet everyone else is wearing black???? #PrincePhilip,” questioned one disillusioned ITV viewer on Twitter.

Another frustrated fan accused the female presenters of showing a lack of respect following one of the most high-profile Royals in recent years.

“@GMB Why aren’t Kate and Susanna wearing black like all broadcasters are meant to be at the moment? #norespect #bringpiersback,” rapped the viewer.

A surprised third commenter echoed: “@GMB as we are supposed to be in a period of national mourning. Rather surprised that Kate and Susan a aren’t in black today like the BBC.

On Friday BBC presenter Martine Croxall was commended by viewers for changing her outfit to black during her news bulletin to the nation after announcing Prince Phillip’s sad death.

However, BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker was also slammed by fans for not wearing a black tie on today’s show, he wore a blue one instead.

Following the news of the Prince’s death last week, the BBC cleared its schedule and instead aired news specials discussing the royal’s life.

They have since come under criticism for their “excessive” coverage.

And plans laid out in Operation Forth Bridge revealed the country had entered into national mourning.

ITV cleared their schedules and moved timings of shows around, but Kate and Suzanna’s decision not to wear black really upset a lot of viewers

“@GMB did your presenters and some guests not get the memo about the country being in national mourning?” asked one GMB viewer.

“Why are they not in black I including black ties This is a lack of respect? #PrincePhilip.

Kate and Suzanna broke with usual protocol and decided not to wear sombre black outfits

“Was going to ask why they are not wearing black. Seems I’m not the only one thinking this.. gmb if you read these get them to change.”

And the complaints kept coming, as Kate and Suzanna took plenty of flack for the fashion faux pas.

“@GMB why aren’t the two presenters wearing black today, like on the BBC? The male guest are all in black jackets and ties, Kate especially looks a disgrace, as always,” moaned one fan. “Does this not apply to gmb ??”

Another tweeted: “@GMB thought all presenters had to wear black as we mourning Prince Philip.”

“@GMB @susannareid100 @kategarraway why are you not wearing dark colours as a mark of respect for #RIPPrincePhilip,” echoed a viewer.

“@GMB think presenters should be wearing black, if I’m honest,” stressed a frustrated GMB viewer.

One GMB viewer screamed: “@GMB why are Suzanna and Kate not complying with mourning rules of wearing black?? No respect.”

The Duke of Edinburgh will be buried on Saturday at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, with only 30 members of family and close relatives allowed to attend because of coronavirus restrictions for funerals.
