Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has made some heartbreaking revelations about her husband Derek Draper’s ongoing battle with his health.
Derek remains in hospital after being diagnosed with coronavirus in March of last year, as Kate brings up their two kids alone.
While he has since recovered from the virus, it has left him with holes in his lungs and heart, as well as diabetes.
Kate, 53, revealed in an interview that doctors told her Derek’s infection was the “highest they had seen in a patient who had lived”.
But Kate remains upbeat and said she is hoping to see “some kind of trajectory of improvement”.

She told Good Housekeeping magazine: “It’s very much two steps forward, three steps back, but if I think back to where we were in March 2020…
“When Derek’s lungs were solid with infection and his infection rates were the highest doctors had seen in anyone who has lived, we’re undoubtedly in a more positive place.”
Kate also admitted she is struggling to cope with looking after their two children, Darcey, 14 and William, 11.
The GMB star said she is not sure if she is faring well, adding she “doesn’t know how single mums do it” because it is “just so hard”.

Kate explained she also finds herself asking “what would Derek do?” in everyday situations.
The TV personality feels lucky to be “supported by lots of friends”.
She said fellow Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh has been “really helpful” as she has been a single mum since her son, Tushaan, was very little.
Kate said she asked Ranvir “how do you do it?” and she responded by telling her to “accept that you can’t do everything”.

Speaking about acts of kindness she has experienced in recent months, Kate explained how her neighbours’ support has kept her going while Derek remains in a hospital bed.
She said: “That’s been one of the positives of this horrible time, and I’ve found it [kindness] in the most unexpected places.
“There’s a lovely lady who lives over the road from me and I didn’t know her before all this, but every week she makes a cake for me and the kids.”
