Kate Garraway shares heartfelt Christmas passage about love during carol service

Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway had the honour of reading out a passage from the Bible all about love during a royal carol service this week.

The 54-year-old broadcaster attended the Westminster Abbey earlier this week and delivered the scripture titled Love Came Down At Christmas.

But she wasn’t the only person who attended the star-studded service as the Duchess of Cambridge hosted the Royal Carols: Together At Christmas service.

The service aimed to pay tribute to “inspirational” people who have served their communities during the pandemic.

She read out: “Love came down at Christmas, love all lovely, love diving, love was born at Christmas, star and angels gave the sign.

“Worship we the Godhead, love incarnate, love divine, worship we our Jesus, but wherewith for sacred sign, love shall be our token, love be yours, and love be mine.

“Love to God and all men, love for plea, and gift and sign.”

After a challenging few years for the TV presenter, it’s clear to see that her love for her husband has shone through her work.

Tragically, her husband Derek contracted Covid-19 in early 2020 and went on to be hospitalised with the virus for 13 months which quickly made him one of the worst living Covid patient in the UK.

Derek has since returned home but still struggles to communicate after the virus broke down his body and mind and now requires constant round-the-clock care.

Despite how thankful the blonde belle is that her husband is happy and home with the rest of his family, the news reader recently disclosed to Woman’s Own magazine that there are still traditions the doting dad will have to miss out on.

She told the publication: “This year, we have got him home – and fingers crossed we can keep him home.

“Of course, he’s not going to be putting on his Santa costume going out with Darcey for a father-and-daughter Christmas shop or the same with Billy.

“None of those things are on the horizon at the moment so it’s adjusting to a new normal but also grateful he’s here at all which we didn’t have at all last year and feared would never happen.”
