Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has told of finding ‘”kindness in strangers” after her husband Derek Draper was hospitalised in March 2020.
The British TV regular explained how she’s been through the ‘darkest of times’ but has managed to find goodness in the world even in her worse moments.
Kate explained that it’s been in these random acts from strangers – alongside support from close friends – that she’s found strength.
Ben Shephard’s co-star said: “In the darkest of times you can find goodness and love just when you need it most and helping each other is the only way we will get through this grimmest of times.

“I’ve learnt about the kindness of strangers.
“It has been the toughest of times for me and my family, as it has for so many others and the good wishes and sympathy from viewers and listeners has really helped.”
She added to Hello magazine: “To know so many people are thinking of me and sending love has given me hope and strength and I’m very grateful.”

Derek was hospitalised at the start of the pandemic before doctors placed him into a medically induced coma to help his body fight the infection.
While he is now Covid-19 free, he is still very weak in hospital after the virus wrecked havoc on his organs.
Last week Kate, 53, heartbreakingly explained how she has been unable to visit her husband since Christmas.

During a live TV interview with boxing legend Frank Bruno, Kate was asked to send on his best wishes to Derek by the sportsman.
Bruno said: “If you see your husband today, just give him my regards please Kate.”
Looking downcast, Kate replied: “I will do, unfortunately I’m not allowed to. Haven’t for two months.
“But I will try to pass that message on. That’s very kind.”
Kate later added to co-host and close friend Ben: “I haven’t seen him [Derek] since Christmas, which of course means he’s back into a situation where he’s looking at strangers in masks.
“And I think that’s the situation for everybody, they’ve got somebody in the hospital at the moment, it’s not unique.
“It’s tough. It’s also the same for people in care homes. And when you’re someone like him who is dealing with a consciousness problem and trying to emerge, I can’t help but fear it’s not helpful.”
