Katie Price begs trolls to stop attacking Harvey as he doesn't understand abuse

Katie Price has urged cruel trolls to stop targeting her eldest son Harvey Price, as he doesn’t understand the abuse people are hurling at him.

The mum-of-five and her boy featured in a BBC documentary – Harvey and Me – recently, which looked at Katie’s struggles in helping Harvey grow up and find a college that suited his special needs.

It’s clear that Katie, 42, would do anything for her son, 18, and she has been working to get Harvey’s Law passed, which would make it a criminal offence to post abuse online.

The former glamour model said she understands why people take their own lives, slamming trolls for picking on her disabled son.

“It has to stop,” she said on Anna Kennedy’s All About Autism podcast. “It doesn’t just happen with Harvey, it happens with everyone.

“Whether you’re an MP, a doctor, if you’re gay, straight, your race, anything – people are just trolling and it’s getting out of hand.

“That’s why I’m still continuing with Harvey’s Law to make online abuse a criminal offence.”

She went on: “If Harvey knew, if he was a person that could understand it, you can understand why people would commit suicide and stuff.

“Luckily for Harvey he doesn’t understand it, but I do. I will do everything I can to protect him. This is the thing, trolling causes suicide, trolling causes mental health. It’s got to stop. I do blame a lot of these social media sites.”

Harvey has Prader-Willi syndrome, is autistic, blind and has other special needs.

Last November, a man war arrested after sharing a video online – which has since been removed – in which he dressed in blackface and appeared to mock Harvey.

Sussex Police said at the time that a man was arrested “on suspicion of sending by public communication network an offensive/indecent/obscene/menacing message”.

In January, it was reported that the case against the man was “moving forward”, with the Sun claiming that Katie has been asked to five evidence in court.

“Katie is pleased the case is moving forward and action is being taken,” a source told the publication. “It’ll show people that there are real consequences to internet trolling.”

The former Loose Women star has been vocal about wanting trolls to be “named and shamed” before, as well as having them be put on a register that could be accessed in the future, such as when employers are hiring them.
