Katie Price followed in grandma’s footsteps after she posed topless as mermaid

Katie Price followed in her grandma’s modelling footsteps, after she posed topless as a mermaid back in the 1940s.

In a tell-all Sunday Times article, Katie and her mum Amy opened up about her modelling career and boob jobs.

And her mum admitted that though she “hated the topless modelling with a passion”, Katie’s maternal grandparents were all up for it.

Though Katie was originally “horse-mad” as a child, Amy’s mum said she was “so determined” to make a career out of modelling.

“When she was 14 we went round the modelling agencies in London but they all said she was too short,” Amy explained.

“So she sent pictures to a glamour agency and at 17 ended up in The Sun for a week. I hated the topless modelling with a passion but my mum and dad thought it was fantastic.

“My mum had performed as a mermaid in the 1940s, with long curly hair covering her breasts. She said: ‘I did it, Kate. You can do it’.

“After that, there was no stopping her.”

According to The Daily Mail, Katie’s gran earned her living in Brighton, but got fired for smoking on the job.

But the mermaid legacy didn’t stop there. Back in 2008, Katie released a series of children’s picture books featuring Katie the Mermaid and Peter the Pirate, named after her then-hubby Peter Andre.

Katie has been renowned for her glamour modelling, but it hasn’t all been plain sailing.

According to mum Amy, she was pressured into having her first boob job aged 18 by a photographer who told her she needed to be “bigger”.

Her mum was baffled as to why the teenager would want so many breast augmentations.

When Katie was 17, her mum refused to let her undergo the surgery, but admitted: “When she was 18 she phoned on her way down to the operating theatre, so it was too late to stop it.”
