Former glamour model Katie Price currently owes thousands of pounds in court costs for previous appearances, Crawley Magistrates’ Court heard.
The reality star, who received a 16-week suspended jail term for drink-driving while disqualified and without insurance following a crash, reportedly owes £7,358 in court costs.
During her hearing which took place on Wednesday, Katie was ordered to pay another £213, which is made up of £85 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
Ahead of her sentencing, District Judge Kelly told Katie Price that she is “extremely lucky” that she is not spending Christmas behind bars.
The judge said: “I cannot send you to jail today even though you may deserve to spend Christmas behind bars.
“You are extremely lucky the magistrates on a previous occasion decided to defer their decision.”
The I’m A Celeb star previously revealed she had money troubles a few years ago and was declared bankrupt in November 2019.
After her ruling which took place in the same year, Katie was ordered to pay off £12,000 a month to her creditors after taking out an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA) – but she failed to do so.
Last month, The Sun revealed that Katie’s final bankruptcy hearing was pushed back to February 2022.
The star’s next hearing is to review her attempts to pay back her hefty fees to creditors two years after landing in debt.
According to reports, Katie owes an eye-watering £3.2million to her creditors, however, the likelihood of her paying it all back is fairly slim.
Earlier this year, the TV legend was hit with a repossession order for her £1.35m home after failing to repay a debt of more than £500,000 on the property which was labelled the “Mucky Mansion”.
A Land Registry search for the property reveals Katie owes money to both Kensington Mortgage Company and solicitor Archerfield Partners LLP.
