Katie Price has taken to Instagram to share her devastation after the death of her friend Sarah Harding was announced today, September 5.
Sarah’s mum wrote on Instagram that the singer had sadly died as she “slipped away peacefully” this morning, with thousands of loved ones, fans and friends sharing tribute to the star.
Katie posted a photo of the pair on the Loose Women panel and said: “I’m devastated to hear my friend, Sarah Harding, has passed.
“You were always such a genuine and honest person, I will remember all the laughs we used to have back in the day…
“I always valued Sarah’s friendship and my thoughts go out to her family and friends.”
Katie and Sarah had a long friendship, with Sarah standing by Katie’s side when she married Peter Andre in 2005, which the mother-of-five recalled during Steph’s Packed Lunch in April.
She said at the time: “She was my bridesmaid. You lose touch with people over the years for various reasons.
“I’ve even left her an Instagram message to get in contact. She’s not in a good place now. She’s probably got her network of people.”
Katie encouraged Sarah to reach out, but she didn’t reference whether the pair were reunited following her chat.
Katie isn’t the only celeb to share tribute to Sarah following her death, with Denise Van Outen writing: “This is so heartbreaking, rest in peace beautiful Sarah. Thinking of you all. Family and friends,” on the post.
Michelle Heaton, Sheridan Smith and Keith Lemon also shared tributes to the star.
Sarah’s mum Marie confirmed the heartbreaking news on Instagram today as she wrote: “It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away.
“Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.”
Marie revealed that Sarah had “slipped away peacefully”, this morning as she thanked everyone for their support over the past year, adding that it “meant the world to Sarah”.
She added: “She was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered.”
