Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly ‘had a problem’ with Meryl Streep’s character’s nudity in the new film Don’t Look Up.
The 47-year-old is said to have an issue with 72-year-old Meryl’s character needing to have a nude scene.
The movie’s director, Adam McKay revealed Leo thought Meryl as royalty in the industry and “had a problem” with the scene which showed off the star’s back tattoo.
However, Meryl did have a body double when shooting such scenes.
Speaking to The Guardian, Adam said: “You know who had a problem with it? Leo. Leo just views Meryl as film royalty … although maybe royalty is not a compliment … but as such a special figure in the history of film.”
Adam confessed that her Titanic co-star “didn’t like seeing her with the lower back tattoo, walking for a second naked.
“‘He said something to me like: ‘Do you really need to show that?’ And I was like: ‘It’s President Orlean; it’s not Meryl Streep.’ But she didn’t even blink. She didn’t even bring it up. She is fearless.”
Meryl plays President Janie Orlean who is seen naked from behind in a scene in the new movie.
She is joined by other A-lister stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Timothee Chalamet, and Ariana Grande.
The film follows two low-level astronomers who embark on a huge media tour to try to warn everyone of a comet that is approaching planet Earth and could wipe it out completely.
Leonardo revealed earlier this month how starstruck he was by Meryl.
He told Access: “Look, you get to work with the greatest living actor in the world, everyone’s on their toes, everyone’s prepared, and we’re just trying to keep up with her.”
During the premiere of Don’t Look Up in New York, Jennifer Lawrence showcased her baby bump for the first time as she posed alongside Meryl and Leonardo.
The award-winning actress wowed in a golden floor-length dress that featured sequinned tassels and sheer long draped sleeves.
The mum-to-be opted for a simple makeup look with her hair tied back in a low bun featuring loose curls.
