Liam Payne will follow in the footsteps of his former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik and branch out into the world of film soundtracks later this year.
Daily Star can reveal that the Strip That Down singer has recorded a single for Disney and 20th Century Fox’s upcoming film Ron’s Gone Wrong.
The kooky animation will tell the story of a young boy who becomes friends with a malfunctioning robot.
Liam’s team up with Disney comes after Zayn recorded a version of A Whole New World with Naomi Scott for the movie giant’s 2019 live action remake of Aladdin.
A source told Daily Star Online: “Liam was asked earlier this year to do a song for Ron’s Gone Wrong.
“The track isn’t intended to be part of his second era following LP1 but more as an addition.
“Due to the film not being out until October Liam and his team expect he will already have released new music prior to the song dropping but it’s the track is already done and dusted in terms of recording.
“Plans are motion for when lockdown ends. He currently has a show pencilled in for in India for 2022 and Brazil at the end of the year.”
A rep for Liam Payne declined to comment.
Liam’s most recent single was Midnight, a collab with AJ Alesso which was released April 2020.
Speaking last December, Liam admitted he didn’t think he’d ‘got it right’ when it came to his solo music.
He told People magazine: “I’m hoping to write some songs and rewrite my story a little bit, because I don’t think that I got it right yet.”
Last week Liam told how his relationship with model Maya Henry has come to an end.
Liam said on Steven Bartlett’s podcast: “I feel like more than anything at this point, I’m more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people.
“That annoys me. I’ve just not been very good at relationships. And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point.
“I’m just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else. That’s what happened with my last relationship.”
