Line of Duty was back with a bang last night as the AC-12 team closed in on Jo Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) and Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper).
But, while the heart-stopping cliffhanger has left fans begging for more, others noticed a rather more light-hearted moment during the episode.
Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) had just learnt of Ted Hastings’ (Adrian Dunbar) involvement in giving thousands to murdered cop John Corbett’s (Steven Graham) wife Stephanie (Amy De Bhrún).
His first thought was to text his best pal Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), now working for the murder investigation team headed by Jo.
Cameras briefly showed Steve’s text history with Kate and it was more than enough for the Twitterati to screen grab and analyze what was said.
Before his most recent text saying he needed to speak to his former colleague, Kate asked Steve: “Any more news on Ryan?”
“Nope, nothing new since we spoke,” he replied.
But it was what was at the top of the text that tickled viewers.
Half of a meme is shown being sent to Steve, with Kate captioning it: “Reminded me of you.”
The response, accompanied by an angry and laughing face, was: “Lol very funny.”
Twitter user @dxrthvaders did some digging and managed to find the full meme that was sent.
It features a dachshund dressed in a waistcoat and tie, with a calculator and clock placed on a desk in front of him.
Steve, played by Martin Compton, is often seen dressed up in a waistcoat and the meme left viewers in stitches.
