After more than a year since we had our last dose of The Apprentice, the popular business-based reality show will be back on our screens in 2022.
But it seems the show is set for a strict new revamp, as contestants will be living in stricter conditions… and not just because of the Covid-19 pandemic and social distancing rules.
Participants on the 2021 show, which will air in early 2022, look set to be ‘bubbled’ together to prevent an outbreak of Covid-19 while filming.
On top of that bosses are taking measures to put an end to any off camera romps.
Past seasons of the long-running BBC reality show have seen participants choosing to get close rather than competitive, with a fair few hooking up or sharing a snog while the shooting of the show is ongoing.
In 2019, the last series that aired saw Lottie Lion and Lewis Ellis couple up when they weren’t in the boardroom.
And back in 2016, Jessica Cunningham got off with Courtney Wood, while Grainne McCoy shared a snog with Paul Sullivan.
But now Lord Sugar and BBC have had enough and want to ensure such romantic affairs don’t happen in the upcoming series of the show.
“Lord Sugar has always hated the idea that some of the contestants might be getting together behind the scenes while filming,” an insider spilled to The Sun on Sunday.
The number of minders and chaperones that live with the contestants in their on-screen house is set to be increased in an attempt to stop any frisky-business before it interferes with the real business that should be taking place.
There are consequences for those who breach the ‘no romantic relations’ rule – with the publication adding that contestants will be disqualified if the minders happen to find out about the goings on.
The TV mole added: “This isn’t Love Island. To him, the process should be solely about business.
“The latest batch of contestants face stricter monitoring than any past group.
“Staff have been tasked with ensuring contestants keep their eyes on the prize and not on each other.”
The Apprentice will be back on our screens in early 2022 – but will the contestants get frisky with one another? We’ll just have to wait and see!
