'Love Island like CBeebies in comparison with Too Hot to Handle' say Geordie OGs

Geordie Shore girls Holly Hagan, Marnie Simpson and Sophie Kasaei have expressed an eye roll or two at this year’s series of Love Island and said it’s like watching CBeebies with a bunch of kids talking about nothing.

Daily Star quizzed the Geordie Shore OG girls on their hot take on the goings-on inside the villa and whether producers need to throw some more Geordies in the mix to spice things up.

Stunning single lady Sophie, 32, said: “Geordies win everything. You put a geordie on a reality tv show, they will win it. People just love people from the northeast.”

Fitness fanatic Holly, 29, agreed and said: “One hundred per cent!”

The girls also compared the ITV2 dating programme to Netflix’s spicy show Too Hot to Handle, which features a hoard of young sexed-up singletons looking for a good time.

The contestants are flown out to a lavish retreat to form “stronger connections” instead of sexual gratification and are not allowed to touch each other.

Let’s just say, it doesn’t really work and there are plenty of rule breaks that result in the winner’s prize fund being deducted each time.

Holly added: “Have you watched Too Hot to Handle? Going from Too Hot to Handle to watching Love Island, you feel like you’re watching CBeebies, it is crazy.

“With Too Hot to Handle, I sit and I watch it I’m like ‘YES!’

“Like this is finally a show that can rival the type of things that we did like, it’s really good.”

Mum-of-one Marnie agreed with her Geordie OGs castmate and said: “The casting of Too Hot to Handle is amazing.

“I feel Love Island has slacked a little bit this year. Like I hate to say it but it’s kind of let us down at the minute – I’m hoping it picks up.”

Holly then went on to express her thoughts on the cast, suggesting it was down to them that the latest series in her opinion is so dry.

Marnie stated the Love Island should be 25+ to attract a more authentic lineup

She said: “I feel like they’re too middle class or too like prim and proper.

“And I think a lot of people go on there knowing what they can get after it with the deals – like no 21-year-old wants to fall in love they want a Pretty Little Thing deal.

“They need to put people who actually want to fall in love, who are actually adults who are confident and comfortable in themselves, rather than putting kids.”

With the three stunning ladies all in agreement Marnie shared some tips for the show’s producers.

She said: “Honestly I think that the age limit for Love Island should be 25+.

“It shouldn’t be open to under 25, it feels like I’m watching a bunch of kids have a conversation about absolutely nothing.

“When that Brad talks he just can’t get to the point for so long, it’s like what is he talking about?!”

Holly then chimed in to say: “That’s what happens when you get by on your looks for so long.”

When asked whether Brad McClelland would fit into the Geordie Shore family, Holly rolled her eyes and said “Well, it’s not our choice – we’re not there.”

Marnie added: “He definitely would fit into the Geordie Shore boy criteria, but he’s like a generation younger than us. So, you need to ask the current Geordie Shore cast now.”

Geordie OGs premieres 13th July at 10pm only on MTV.
