Love Island set for Majorca return as builders spotted transforming iconic villa

Love Island looks almost ready to return to its Majorca home after builders were seen onsite getting the villa ready for the contestants.

There has not been confirmation from bosses of the hit ITV show yet but there have been hints of a return to its natural home after disruption from COVID moved the show to South Africa and cancelled a series.

Photos from the villa show both construction work on-going and trucks transporting material to the house.

An ITV board featuring COVID protocols can also be seen prominently for staff to work safely.

Love Island is expected to return to our screen next month so it is assumed the villa’s transformation is nearing completion for the next set of islanders.

Last season, which was held in the Constantia suburb of Cape Town, South Africa, was won by Paige Turley and Finley Tapp in February 2020.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the summer series was postponed until 2021, which is now almost here.

Although the official confirmation has yet to be revealed, the active work on the villa strongly suggests the show will be back at the famous villa.

It had been speculated that the islanders would become more staycationers with rumours of potential sites in the UK being scouted.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of a Love Island fix and producers of the show have been hinting that this year could be very different.

Producers have been hoping to see more same-sex couples on the show and have been seeking out members of the cast that would see almost half being bisexual.

A start date has been leaked, with reports saying the series will be back on June 28

It is thought that sexual fluidity will help create more organic romances within the famous villa.

With the work producers have been doing in finding islanders, it is hoped that this season will be the most diverse and inclusive in the show’s history.

Host Laura Whitmore is expected to return after being seen filming introductory scenes in England.

She will be joined by her husband and voice narrator Iain Stirling along with their baby daughter, who are all expected to be based on the island during production.

Fans don’t have long left to wait with the long-awaited seventh series hitting ITV2 screens in June.

According to a source speaking to The Mirror: “Crew members are scheduled to fly out to Majorca on June 20 – with the series expected to launch a week later.

“The delayed launch date will not have an impact on the length of the series, with the show still running for a duration of eight weeks.”

Love Island returns this summer on ITV2.
