Love Island's Danny Bibby slams show 'editing' for 'making him someone he's not'

He’s been out of theLove Island villa for a few days now, and Danny Bibby is not happy.

The 25-year-old from Leigh, Wigan, has posted on Instagram stories after critics have been lashing out at him for how he treated fellow Islander Lucinda Strafford during his stay.

The plumber, who has 90% of his body tattooed, filmed himself reclining in bed in the dark as he talked to fans and haters alike.

“I’ve been watching the show, right?” he begins.

“Listen, guys. Just take it all with a pinch of salt, that’s all I’m saying, because a lot of it is edited to make you be someone you’re not,” he insisted.

Many fans were angry over his behaviour towards 21-year-old Lucinda, and the charity Women’s Aid accused him of “gaslighting” her.

Danny continued: “Like, for instance, the part where I told Lucinda, ‘Why would I make you coffee?’ That was a little joke because I was making a coffee!”

He added: “I said ‘Why wouldn’t I’ because we’re mates. The fact is, I actually made the coffee for Lucinda, and give it to Aaron!”

Danny seemed frustrated as he continued: “I said ‘Here, bro, here’s Lucinda’s coffee, give her that. That’ll get you in good books’.

“So, honestly enjoy the show. But remember, it’s a show,” he stressed.

Danny came under fire before he even entered the villa after viewers looked through his social media and found a comment where he used a racial slur.

He was dumped from the villa earlier this week, alongside new bombshell AJ Bunker.

Danny posted on Instagram, explaining further his reasoning for the language he used.

“Whilst I was made aware of this and issued an apology whilst in the villa, the matter has always been on the front of my mind during the days in there and I would like to now add to what was said.

“After seeing all the comments and reaction to the post, I understand more that the use of the word, even in the way it was written and intended, is deeply offensive to people and I am truly sorry for using that word.

“I was always aware that written in the other way was a vile term, and I would never use it. But I was unaware that the way I used it was not.

“I have listened to the likes of 50cent, Drake and Eminem since I was a kid, and I used it like they do as a term of friends/bro/brother. THAT IS THE TRUTH.

“I now know the term is unacceptable in any context, and will never use it again. Education is key to solving problems, and I have learned a very valuable lesson.

“I hope others will too. I whole heartedly apologise to anyone who I have offended and ask your forgiveness.

“I would like to now get on a normal life with my brilliant friends and family.”

Love Island continues daily at 9pm on ITV2
