Love Island's Jake and Liberty 'breakup and quit the show three days before the finale'

Love Island’s Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish have reportedly broken up and called it quits on their time on the ITV2 dating show, with the pair agreeing to leave the show three days before the end.

The pair who were set to be the hot favourites a couple of weeks ago have been in disagreements the past weeks, arguing constantly and debating the future of their relationship.

MailOnline has revealed that the pair have left the show with a source telling the publication: “It was a really tough decision for the couple to make, but it felt like the right thing to do.”

“They’d given it their all on camera and wanted to let their friends in other couples have a chance at winning.

“Saying goodbye was emotional for all the Islanders, as they’ve become so close, like family, but it won’t be long before they’re all reunited.

“It’s not 100 per cent over for Jake and Liberty, there are still a lot of feelings involved, so who knows what will happen on the future.”

The pair called it a day on Thursday night’s show but fans were hopeful for them to rekindle

During Thursday night’s episode, the pair decided to call it a day on their seven-week romance after multiple instances of Liberty feeling neglected.

Jake appeared to be blindsided by Liberty’s claims but ended up agreeing that the pair should both go their separate ways.

The Nandos waitress confided in her friend Faye Winter as the couple came to the end of their Love Island path.

Liberty told Faye privately: “I’ve just got to be true to myself and I can’t do this.

“It’s nothing against Jake and it’s nothing against me but I can just tell that I’m giving him the ick over little things like being messy and I would rather walk out being me.

Faye rushed to Liberty’s side to hear her side of the situation

“If I’m going someone 100 per cent energy and I’m not getting it in return then I’d rather walk out here Faye with my head held high knowing I stayed true to myself the whole way through.

“Even though I didn’t find love, I found self-love and I wouldn’t change myself for anyone, and I’m not saying Jake isn’t a genuine guy but he’s just not right for me.”

In the clip showed for Friday night’s episode, the couple can be seen asking the Islanders to gather around the firepit.

After hearing the couple’s news Millie Court can be seen showing off a rather shocked face, which arose after the couple’s shocking revelation.

Full details of the couple’s breakup will be aired on tonight’s episode, which will undoubtedly shake the villa and all of the Islanders.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
