Love Island’s Lucinda Strafford reportedly got back with her footballer ex before signing up for the show, leaving him dog-sitting at home.
Premier League star Aaron Connolly, 21, considers Lucinda to be his girlfriend and has been looking after her pet bulldog while she’s caught up flirting with other lads in the villa, a source told The Sun.
The pair are said to have dated for two years and rumours have emerged they’ve grown closer again after allegations he breached Covid-19 lockdown rules by inviting a woman to his house for sex in March.
But it’s claimed the footie ace reconciled with the Love Islander before she joined the cast.
Fans will be left outraged after it’s claimed that Aaron drove Lucinda to the airport for her flight to Mallorca.
A source said: “Lucinda and Aaron reconciled before she went on Love Island.
“It was meant to be a big secret because there are strict rules about it.
“No one wants to watch a dating show where the stars are really pining for lovers back home.
“Aaron was only too happy looking after Lucinda’s dog. It makes him feel like they are still the couple they are.”
Brighton and Hove Albion forward Aaron had split from Lucinda earlier this year after he cheated on her.
The revelation that they may still be together comes after The Sun previously claimed the former British Airways air stewardess went into the villa in order to promote her fashion business.
An insider said: “She wants fame and money – she’s always wanted to be a celebrity. She’s trying to become an influencer, she wants to do it for her business.”
They added: “Aaron’s really upset and really annoyed about it. They were together for two years and then broke up.
“He was seeing other people and she was jealous, but over the past few months they’ve been seeing each other.”
Meanwhile, Lucinda has been enjoying the attention of two boys in the villa since the dumping of her previous partner Brad McClelland earlier this week.
She is now coupled up with new bombshell Danny Bibby but last night’s episode saw her growing closer to another Islander, Aaron Francis.
The Daily Star has approached Aaron Connolly for comment.
ITV have debunked the claims as “incorrect”.
Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVHub at 9pm*
