Mark Wright 'moved to tears' after hearing about James Argent's weight gain

Mark Wright is said to have grown tearful when his best friend James Argent revealed he had gained weight during the lockdown.

The former TOWIE star has opened up about his decision to undergo surgery for a gastric band, hoping to lose 12 stone in the months to come.

James, 33, admitted he’d battled with his weight during the lockdown, seeing the numbers on the scales rise after losing the motivation to exercise.

The reality star turned to his friend Mark, who runs his own Train Wright personal training scheme, for help, stepping onto the scales before him.

In an interview with The Sun, James confessed Mark had grown emotional at that moment, fearing for his friend’s health.

He said: “He wants to help me and told me ‘get on the scales’. It’s embarrassing to say, but they were so upset when they saw I was nearly 27 stone.

“We used to banter because I was always the chubby one, but this time Mark just said ‘Arg, this isn’t even funny anymore, this is serious.’

“And he’s right. Nobody wants to work with me or take me seriously.”

James branded Mark as his “inspiration,” adding the Essex TV personality is “fit and healthy” with a “successful career”.

Arg, who dated fellow TOWIE star Gemma Collins in an on-off relationship for years, admitted he struggled with the lack of a routine during the lockdown.

Before the pandemic struck, James had been committed to going to the gym and practising boxing, but the coronavirus restrictions meant he turned to food for comfort.

The former Celebs On The Farm star has decided to turn to the gastric procedure to help him to lose weight in a short amount of time.

He said: “Nobody is trying to stop me from having it done. Everyone knows it’s the only way I can lose weight.”
