Maura Higgins admitted that she “felt naked” as she went make-up free on Loose Women.
The former Love Island star is known for being part of one of the most gorgeous groups of people on TV, as the ITV2 show is notorious for picking utterly stunning contestants who work hard on looking flawless.
But Irish reality star Maura, 30, is determined to help encourage her fans to embrace their blemishes.
Bravely wiping off all her make-up live on today’s edition of Loose Women, the brunette beauty giggled as she struggled not to feel embarrassed at going barefaced to the entire nation.
Maura looked different without her usual made-up look, but seemed happier than ever as she grinned at presenter Kaye Adams on the show.
Openly sharing just how hard it was to talk without make-up on, the celebrity said: “I feel really naked.
“It’s not ideal to go on live TV with no make-up, like any other girl you feel more confident with make-up.”
But despite that, Maura was insistent it’s more important than ever to show the truth outside of social media, particularly for the younger generation.
“All the youngsters look at these picture-perfect photos on social media and think people in the public eye are perfect, but we have glam teams, filters,” she explained.
“It’s very important to show the natural side and the realness. We all have blemishes, we all get the odd spot now and again.
“I turned 30 and hope to have a family someday. I fear for my kids entering social media because kids are hard on themselves.”
Maura has been campaigning for celebrities to take a stand against the fake-ness of social media for a while, as she shared an image of herself completely “au naturel” on her Instagram last month.
Without any fake tan, make-up or filters, Maura looked more beautiful than ever.
The Dancing On Ice star delivered an iconic pose as she rested her head on her hand and gazed directly at the camera.
“RAW … like many of us, there are so many times I stop to read the nasty comments in my DM’s or online & every single time I can’t help but think of the younger generation stepping on the social media bandwagon!” she captioned the post.
“Us women especially get criticised day in and day out about our bodies, hair, makeup, skin… I could go on forever,” Maura went on.
She added that she is “lucky” to be a confident woman so she wants to do her part to empower others.
