Maura Higgins has shared a sombre Christmas message ahead of the festive holiday this weekend.
The former Love Island star, 31, dished out some much-needed advice to her loyal legion of followers reminding users to be kind during the festive period which can be incredibly difficult for others at this time of year.
She couldn’t help but share the meaningful post online – which has been doing the rounds on social media over the past few days – to remind excited fans that some people are struggling to get into the spirit of Christmas this year after another trying year.
Maura, who split up with her Strictly Come Dancing boyfriend Giovanni Pernice earlier this year, sympathised with her fiercely loyal followers just days away from the big day.
In the lengthy Instagram post, she penned: “Someone you know is preparing for their first Christmas without their husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, daughter, or son.
“Others are preparing for their last. Regardless of their specifics, remember that this season of joy is often times a season of sadness for many.
“Be kind, be generous, give love, give help; if nothing else, just don’t give a hard time.”
The Irish beauty has endured quite a trying couple of months following the breakdown of her relationship with the 32-year-old ballroom winner.
She was said to have taken the breakup “very hard”, and was left heartbroken after Giovanni decided to call time on their whirlwind romance in a bid to focus on his career.
They dated for four months before they cut ties and went their separate ways despite the brunette beauty calling the Italian stallion “the one” in gushing social media posts.
An inside source close to the reality star told New magazine at the time: “Maura was totally gutted about their breakup and it was a bitter blow.
“But she’s a beautiful girl and she’s used to getting a lot of attention. She definitely won’t be short of offers.”
It has since been reported that the professional dancer dumped the TV star amid fears that she risked ruining his chances of stealing the glitterball trophy on the BBC One dance competition.
And last weekend the TV hunk did just that after he won the show for the first time with his soap star partner Rose Ayling-Ellis on Saturday night.
Throughout the 14 weeks the pair trained together, romance rumours were rife as fans quickly became convinced that the pro dancer had a thing for the 27-year-old EastEnders star, due to their close friendship and his emotional speeches about her.
But it wasn’t meant to be as the deaf soap star proudly introduced the world to her loving boyfriend of seven years on the show.
