Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'have not thought enough' about impact on Archie

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “have not thought far enough ahead” about the impact of their explosive Oprah interview on their son, according to Channel 5 broadcaster Storm Huntley.

She told Jeremy Vine that she had concerns over the impact of their mental health on son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor once he is older.

In particular, Storm was fretting about Meghan’s assertions that she was suicidal while pregnant.

She told Jeremy: “I do think talking is great and I do think it is great that [Prince Harry] is bringing attention to things like the feelings of [being] suicidal and the effects that has on somebody’s partner.

“The thing that I am quite worried about is Archie.”

She continued: “Archie is just a baby and does not know what is going on. Archie will not be a baby forever, and he will go to school and people will tell him things about his mother.

“To find out that your mother was suicidal while pregnant, I think that is going to be quite hard. I do not think they have thought far enough forward of what this means for their children.”

Storm concluded: “I know they are trying to protect them by moving to America but I wonder if this is right to protect them.”

But Harry and Meghan have long since been advocating for positive mental health and the importance of talking.

In her March 2021 interview, Meghan candidly told Oprah Winfrey: “I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening thought.”

She continued: “I just didn’t see a solution.”

Speaking about the media harassment she experienced, Meghan said: “I would sit up at night, and I was just like, ‘I don’t understand how all of this is being churned out’ — and again I wasn’t seeing it — but it’s almost worse when you feel it through the expression of my mom or my friends or them calling me crying like, ‘Meg, they’re not protecting you.’

“And I realised it was all happening just because I was breathing.”

She revealed she was “ashamed” to admit her true feelings at the time, and admitted that telling Harry how she felt was difficult because of “how much loss he’s suffered”.

“I knew that if I didn’t say it, that I would do it,” Meghan said.

Meghan told Harry that her suicidal ideation “isn’t some abstract ideal, this is methodical,” as she and Harry attended an event at the Royal Albert Hall and clutched hands all night as they were “both just trying to hold on.”
