Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry will be spending their first Christmas as a family of four this year following the birth of their daughter, Lilibet Diana.
The pair stayed in California for Christmas 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and it seems that they will not be returning to England for a family do.
Before jetting Stateside, they had previously spent the festive period with the Mountbatten-Windsor family at the Queen’s private residence, Sandringham House.
However, since stepping down as senior working members of the Royal Family, the Sussexes’ relationship with Harry’s family has become estranged.
The couple and their two children, Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana had spent Thanksgiving with one another in their California home with Meghan describing it as a “really nice” experience.
Speaking to her neighbour and pal Ellen DeGeneres, the former Suits actress said: “I love to cook, we’ll be home and just sort of relax and settle in, it’s our second Thanksgiving at home in California, it’ll be nice, it’ll be really nice.”
Ahead of their official resignation from working royal life, it was announced that the former military serviceman and his wife who found fame on America’s Deal or No Deal opted to spend their Christmas in Canada with Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mum.
Discussing their decision, a spokesperson said: “Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.
“This decision is in line with the precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
It appears that the Sussexes spokesperson made an apparent dig at Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge who once spent Christmas with the Middleton family.
While Harry’s family may be on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, the couple could choose to spend their Christmas with any of their celeb pals in Hollywood.
It’s believed that the royals live alongside the likes of Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and their dearest pal, Oprah Winfrey.
Meghan revealed on Ellen’s show that she had spent time with the couple over Halloween so they could perhaps join forces with DeGeneres and her wife Portia.
Should they choose to jet back to England, it will be the first time that the Sussexes will reunite as a full family with the Queen following their dramatic exit in 2020.
