Thomas Markle Jr has penned an apology letter to his half-sister Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, admitting he regrets urging the prince to call off the royal wedding.
The estranged half-brother of the Duchess of Sussex apologised to the royal couple, revealing the harsh words “came from a very dark part” of his heart.
In the letter, which he wrote during a TV appearance on Big Brother VIP Australia, Thomas said: “Dear Meghan and Harry, the first thing I want to say to both of you is that I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart for the awful mean letter that I wrote to you prior to your wedding.
“And I want both of you to know it did not come from the real person that I am, but came from a very dark and hurt part of my heart.
“I am not a mean person at all and I have more love inside me to give than anything.”
In 2018, Thomas wrote an open letter urging Prince Harry to cancel the May 19 nuptials.
He insisted Meghan “will make a joke of Harry and the Royal Family heritage”.
Thomas also described his sister as a “jaded, shallow, conceited woman”.
The 55-year-old said that he wrote his first letter after his feelings were hurt when Meghan described him as “distant family”.
He revealed the contents of the letter by reading it aloud, saying: “The letter was definitely written out of me feeling like really hurt and confused when I was informed of your response that I was distant family and that you did not know those people.
“I was very hurt and confused because of the amazing bond and relationship we shared growing up together and all I could do was put up a defence wall to protect my heart.
“I know that it was very immature and wrong and I truly regret it.”
Thomas also revealed he struggled after being thrust into the public eye with no help at all.
“I know that it was very immature and wrong and I truly regret it. When your relationship with Harry became known to the world, my life then became public.
“I along with everyone in our family became public figures overnight. No more privacy. And let me tell you it was very, very stressful to have to deal with all alone and no help at all,” he added.
Before putting pen to paper, Thomas was asked by Big Brother about what it was like growing up with Meghan.
He revealed: “It was fun… a lot of love growing up. Her first nickname as a child was Flower.
“In her bedroom she had these really, really decorative coloured flowers over her crib. And when she would wake up, that would be the first thing that she would see.”
Thomas went on to add: “She is my sister and she’s my blood, and I mean I love the hell out of her.”
