Myleene Klass has revealed an adorable throwback snap from her early school years – and she looks dramatically different in the unearthed photo.
The I’m A Celebrity runner-up took to social media on Tuesday to share an early years photo which showed her donning a pair of retro-looking spectacles.
Mum-of-three Klass is now 43 years old, but in the resurfaced photos a much younger Myleene was seen beaming at the camera in her school uniform.
One of the snaps even captured Myleene demonstrating her musical skills on the violin.
Posting to Instagram, the pop singer was promoting a paid advert for Boots and CooperVision UK in front of her 389k followers.
In the sweet video, Myleene was joined by two of her daughters – Hero and Ava – who were armed with instruments of their own, a trombone and a cello.
However, brave Myleene decided to open up about her body image too – and how she felt “vulnerable” as a young girl as her sight issues meant she was forced to wear glasses.
She recalled: “When I see pictures of myself as a girl smiling in her glasses, I’m immediately transported to how vulnerable I felt.
“Wearing glasses was not cool when I was a kid. The conflicting thing is I also hid behind them, literally wore them like a mask.
“It’s quite emotional looking at those photos, as here I am raising a family and encouraging positivity in all areas. Hero even wears fake fashion glasses she loves the look so much.”
She went on to explain that although she was lucky to have been diagnosed with Myopia (short-sightedness) early and to have gotten glasses, she has always “struggled” with her eyesight.
She then confessed that her problems with her eyesight knocked her confidence at school.
She continued: “I squinted through class, sports meant I couldn’t wear glasses so couldn’t see a thing, I would swim with my arm out searching for the wall as I couldn’t judge the distance, I suffered from headaches and in Ava’s words, it really knocked my confidence.
“My school report once said, ‘If Myleene’s name wasn’t on the register, we wouldn’t know she was in the class’!”
Pop star Myleene’s followers rushed to support her in the comments section, as they were clearly inspired by her words.
One fan wrote: “Bless you all such a wonderful inspiring video.”
A second follower could relate to Myleene, and penned: “I felt so judged because I had to wear glasses as a child.”
Myleene responded to the fan, writing: “Thankfully our kids won’t feel this way.”
A third commented: “I suffered with this too, exactly the same, it really affected my life as a child/young adult. So glad things have moved forward for our children now.”
Myleene affectionately replied: “Agree x.”
Klass competed in the sixth series of ITV’s I’m a Celeb which aired in 2006, finishing in second place behind Matt Willis.
Her bikinis from the show have since become famous, and she auctioned off her white bikini – raising £7500 for charity.
