Naga Munchetty reveals gruesome running injuries as she is 'falling apart'

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty left fans concerned after revealing her gruesome running injuries during a segment on Morning Live.

The TV personality appeared on the programme to discuss her show Claimed and Shamed, which tackles insurance fraud and aims to expose the fraudsters.

But the conversation soon turned to running, with hosts Gethin Jones and Sara Cox enquiring about her progress so far.

Gethin prompted: “How is everything else? How’s the running going, because I know you’ve been a little bit injured recently!”

Naga confessed: “I love running! I’ve got Achilles tendonitis, I’ve dislocated my knee. There’s a couple of injuries.”

And Gethin couldn’t resist chiming in: “You’re falling apart, Naga!”

One of Naga’s daily ‘sweaty pics’ was then displayed on screen, showing the TV presenter looking puffed out but cheerful as she snapped a quick selfie on her phone.

Wearing a bright pink tank top and wireless headphones to provide a beat to run to, Naga’s hair was ruffled in the sweet snap and sweat visible on her brow from the exertion.

She giggled: “Daily sweaty picture. I just think you’ve got to work hard if you’re going to feel the benefits if you can, if you’re lucky enough.”

She later hit out at the show’s guest doctor Xand, as she asked him: “So, Xand, can you fix my Achilles tendonitis, please?”

The doctor was taken aback as he responded: “Oh, er – no!”

And Naga hit out through her giggles: “Well, what was the point of you being there? I’m only joking!”

Xand went on to congratulate her: “You’re doing a brilliant job with all your running. The main thing is your rehab and your pre-hab. Do your pre-hab before you get injured.”

Naga blasted him: “Well, I’m injured now! It’s too late!”

And Gethin chipped in: “It’s weird, because there are health benefits of going for a run but it’s not great for your joints.”

Xand was quick to explain that in the “long-term”, running is good for the joints and will keep you healthy.

But Naga hadn’t finished jokingly slamming him, as Gethin joked: “Don’t take Dr Xand’s advice – just go for a little pootle!”

“Take my advice,” the doctor responded, as Naga hit out: “You actually haven’t given any useful advice.”

Naga then elaborated on her own health battles, as she said: “I’m 46 now, and when I was 40 I got told I need to start thinking about osteoporosis and actually you need impact exercise. So that’s actually why I started running.”

Morning Live airs from 9:15am weekdays on BBC One.
