Naya Rivera was left out of Grammys memoriam segment

Naya Rivera was best known for her scene-stealing role on musical hit show Glee.

And the worlds hearts were left broken as the beloved actress died last year.

The tragic accident happened when Naya decided to take her four-year-old son boating on a California lake on July 8 last year.

The autopsy report showed the actress died of accidental drowning, and her son Josey Hollis Dorsey was found floating on the boat his mum had hired hours earlier when people finally realised Naya was missing.

Fans were convinced Naya, who was 33 when she died, would have been recognised for her contributions to the world of music and theatre during last night’s Grammy awards ceremony.

The event’s organisers put together an “In Memoriam” segment from over the last 12 months.

Acknowledging the impact of the coronavirus impact on the industry, the segment featured an overwhelming list of music artists and other notable names who died in the past year.

Songs by the late Little Richard, Kenny Rogers and others were performed while a series of names and pictures flashed across the screen.

A Grammy nominee herself, Naya’s name was not shown, but she was featured on a list of nearly 1,000 people on the Recording Academy’s website.

Taking to Twitter to share their upset over the omission, one person shared: “Since the Grammys failed to include Grammy nominated Naya Rivera in the tribute, please take some time to think about her today. #GRAMMYs.”

“Since the #GRAMMYs didn’t mention her i’ll do it. rest in peace naya rivera you beautiful angel we love you and miss you so much,” another posted in tribute.

A third said: “The Grammys didn’t mention naya on their live air memorial SO here is GRAMMY-nominated Naya Rivera for you all.”

While a fourth devastated fan said: “The @RecordingAcad decided to not include Naya Rivera in the on-air “In memoriam” part of the show.

“I’m disappointed and utterly heartbroken. Naya gave SO much to the music world. She deserves a mention AT LEAST. Put some respect on her name. #grammys.”
