Nikki Grahame’s sent a heartbreaking final text to her ex-boyfriend Pete Bennett before she went for treatment at a private clinic to battle her eating disorder.
The Big Brother star sounded positive in the text just weeks before she died at the age of 38 following her battle against anorexia since she was seven years old.
Nikki, who shot to fame back in Big Brother 7 in 2006 with the winner of that year Pete, endured a whirlwind romance with Pete which ended a month after the show but they remained close friends ever since with Pete saying he rushed to see Nikki in her last days.
And now the last text she sent him has been revealed.
Her death comes after she spent recent weeks she had been receiving treatment for an eating disorder at a specialist clinic following a fundraising campaign organised by friends and fans.
Pete, who has Tourettes syndrome, received a text from Nikki before she entered the clinic.
Speaking to Heat magazine, Pete recalled the last time he saw Nikki and read out her last text to him.
He said that Nikki loved Kate Bush and it was “like a breakthrough” when we played Babooshka and she “started singing and dancing around.”
Pete continued: “I told myself she’d get well again and we planned to do Kate Bush karaoke together one day as a duet when she was better.
“She smiled and said, ‘Yes! When I’m well again.’ So, she was up for getting better.”
Just a few days later, Pete said the star texted him to say she was going to seek professional help after struggling in lockdown.
Pete said: “A few days later, she texted my to say. ’Hey Petie, all good my end. Starting a clinic on Monday, which is good. And the sun is shining today!’”
