Noel Gallagher offers olive branch to brother Liam as he compliments solo career

Noel Gallagher has offered an olive branch to his brother Liam, as he has said Liam’s solo career is more successful than his own.

British music’s worst brothers Noel and Liam have become known for verbally abusing the other rather than showering each other in praise since their band, Oasis, split in 2009.

However, Mancunian Noel may be attempting to turn the tables as he has accepted that Liam has had a more successful solo career than he has.

Speaking on Chris Evans’ How to Wow podcast, Noel said: “Liam’s doing his thing, he’s responsible for the legacy being what it is, he’s keeping the flame alive and all that and good for him.

“He’s doing massive gigs, he’s selling more records than I am and he’s selling more tickets than I am, if you can believe that.

“So he’s doing his thing and I’m doing mine and we’re both pretty happy doing that at the moment.”

He shared that he was enjoying a break from the usual Twitter bashing he gets from Liam.

Commenting on the hiatus, Noel said: “Things are all quiet on the Western front at the moment – Twitter – so long may that continue. It’s all good.”

The abuse break may allow Noel to get on with some more music with his band, especially as he now has an at-home studio.

Noel’s band – called Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – is currently working on their fourth solo studio album.

He said: “It’s my first ever privately-owned studio so I’m in there most days noodling away.

“It was opened in November last year so I’ve been writing a new record in there ever since.

“I had side one completed before the summer holidays and just started the first track of side two today. It went pretty well, actually.”

Liam’s band – called Beady Eye – have had their fair share of success as they released two albums Different Gear, Still Speeding in 2011 and BE in 2013.

In 2013 Beady Eye opened the Glastonbury Festival with an un-billed performance on the Other Stage, despite Liam once saying he would never return to the festival.

The band was nominated for an NME award for Best New Band in 2011 but Hurts won.

In October 2014, Liam announced that Beady Eye had disbanded.
