Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen says hubby Clive has become 'posh' with TV fame

Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has revealed her husband has become more “posh” in recent years, as the farming family’s success soars.

While filming a cooking segment on This Morning, the Yorkshire Shepherdess, 46, opened up about the way in which her husband of 21 years, Clive Owen, has changed.

Whipping up a vanilla and rhubarb bread and butter pudding on the show, Amanda poked fun at Clive’s ritzy new attitude to all things cuisine.

Gesturing to the pudding, she said: “That’s the rhubarb poached, next is to make the Creme Anglaise.”

According to Amanda, Clive now calls British dessert staple custard “Creme Anglaise” – something she feels is a sign he has changed.

She quipped: “This, of course, used to be called custard but because Clive’s gone all posh, it’s now Creme Anglaise.”

Ingredients aside, Amanda’s pudding turned out a treat, as the Channel 5 star coated the dessert in a layer of orange zest and clotted cream.

Cooking demonstrations are part and parcel of the Owen family’s success, following the inception of their hit documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm.

The show follows Amanda, Clive and their nine children in Ravenseat farm in the north of England, where they rear cattle and live off the land.

Amanda and Clive, who have a two-decade age gap between them, share children Annas, Violet, Edith, Raven, Clemmy, Nancy, Reuben, Miles and Sidney.

The sweethearts were friends at first, meeting when Amanda started to work at the farm after abandoning her career as a model.

In 2000 they tied the knot, with Amanda wearing an off-the-shoulder gown with colourful embroidery, and Clive a burgundy cravat and a waistcoat.

Reflecting on their relationship, Clive, who has two children from a previous marriage, admitted he was awestruck the moment he met Amanda.

He said: “I do remember this six-foot-something woman knocked on the door.

“I was very taken with her. You couldn’t not be.”

The farming couple initially started out as friends, but a romance soon blossomed between them, and they have been loved up ever since.

Amanda said: “It was a slow burn thing we kind of got to know each other. [We] made friends first then went out a little bit together.

“With us both coming from non-farming backgrounds we were kind of peas in a pod really but we didn’t know that at the time.”

Custard aside, the sweethearts are enjoying their happily ever after in Yorkshire.

Our Yorkshire Farm airs on Channel 5.
