Paloma Faith rushed to hospital with cramps as she fears 'baby will come early'

Paloma Faith was taken to hospital with painful cramps on Monday night as she revealed she was concerned about early labour.

The 39-year-old singer, who is pregnant with her second child, was rushed to the Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit (MFAU) as she had lower abdominal cramps.

After spending the night there, Paloma took to social media to share the ordeal with her 582,000 followers on Instagram.

She shared a series of snaps as she showed fans her blossoming bump and revealed she was concerned about going into labour early.

Paloma said: “We were in the MFAU last night cause I’ve had some lower abdominal cramps… b***dy praying this one doesn’t come early like the last!”

The star also shared a photograph of her feet and explained how much water she was retaining.

“Look at this water retention!!! I just pressed my ankle and this remained imprinted for a good 3 mins,” Paloma said.

Paloma is already mother to her daughter, four, with long-term partner Leyman Lahcine, 33.

The musician had six rounds of IVF in 2020 before falling pregnant.

She recently vowed to not go outside again until her baby was born after some people approached her during a lockdown walk.

Taking to Instagram, Paloma explained: “Pregnancy diary. My anxiety is through the roof… Some people I knew approached me in the park yesterday as I was taking my little one for a walk for some exercise.

“They were so kind and empathetic and kept away but I vowed that would be the last time I step outside my house again until the baby is born.”

The singer went on: “I couldn’t help thinking about all the effort that goes into trying to conceive a child through IVF.

“Together with all the worry in vitro that it’s safe and doing well, then with this pandemic on top. I feel responsible not just for the baby in my tummy, but my 4-year-old too.

“Like if something was to happen to me how would she ever recover?

“I have so much worry and so much responsibility on my shoulders I was at breaking point yesterday. I had to have a nap because I had exhausted myself so much.

“Even the 5 chocolates I crammed in my face when I got in didn’t help (anxiety eating).”
