Paris Fury has revealed she wanted to “run away” from her marriage to heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury as she found it hard to support him.
The mother of six appeared on BBC Breakfast to discuss the release of her new book Love and Fury and to also give fans insight into what it is like to be married to a sports champion.
During the heartfelt interview, Paris confessed that Tyson once admitted that he didn’t want to “live no more” which she found difficult to cope with.
Talking to presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay about her relationship, the star said: “There was times when I wanted to run away to be honest, there were times when I literally thought I can’t deal with this, I didn’t sign up for this, you know all those years ago when we got married.
“But then on the other hand, I couldn’t have left him. I couldn’t of let him sink. I couldn’t have done it.
“It was just something that I knew I loved him, I wanted to be there and I had to support him.”
Paris also discussed the boxer’s struggles with mental health and said it was a “constant battle”.
She continued: “Obviously he had his demons, he was really depressed, he suffered mental health problems for about four years. He’s had it all his life but it was me really trying to support him and always trying to be that person.
“If anyone knows about mental health, you’re always trying to support your partner. And it was really hard to do that.”
She added: “Obviously Tyson has come through that now and he’s back to a good health and a good stable mind but there was some really dark times when he told me ‘I don’t want to live no more’.”
Tyson and Paris met when they were just teenagers, and married a few years later.
Speaking about when she first met her husband, the star told the presenters that she thought she looked rather old for his age.
She joked: “At sixteen, Tyson looked like a man of 25. He had a beard, he was six foot six. He was a giant.”
Love and Fury: The Magic and Mayhem of Life with Tyson will be released October, 28.
