Paris Hilton still gets 'PTSD when talking about her sex tape' 20 years later

Paris Hilton has said that it still gives her “post-traumatic stress disorder” to talk about her sex tape which was filmed when she was just 20 years old.

The tape was leaked in 2003 and starred Paris along with her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon who was 13 years her senior and began selling the tape himself the following year.

During an interview with Vanity Fair she admitted: “That will always be something that will hurt me for the rest of my life.

“And just the way that I was spoken about just on all the nightly talk-shows, and all the media, and just everyday having to see things, and with my family was just heartbreaking, where I would be in tears every single day.”

Paris opened up about not wanting to leave her house or show her face after the tape came out, and feeling like “my life was over”.

She added: “Obviously it was humiliating. That’s a private experience between two people. You think that you love someone and you trust them, and to have your trust betrayed like that and for the whole world to be watching and laughing, and even more hurtful to me, for people to think that I did that on purpose, that just killed me.”

Paris went on: “It just made me just – it was, it still gives me like post-traumatic stress disorder even like talking about it.

“And yeah, just, that was a part that was, you know, obviously, it was humiliating for people to see all of that, but the fact that people would think that I would want that or do that on purpose just really angers me.

She pointed out that in the years since her tape came out there have been a lot of people who have purposefully leaked theirs in what she called “almost like this blueprint to become famous.”

The Simple Life star acknowledged: “And then since then there’s been others which have been leaked by, you know, their exes, and that’s a different story.

“But the way that I was made a villain back then because of something that someone did to me, and now is just a completely different story.”

She argued: “Like if that would’ve happened today it would not be, you know, what it was back then. So you know, I’m again happy that things have changed and that people are realizing that is just, the woman in the situation who is the victim should not be treated like that or spoken about like that.”

Paris and Rick’s tape was made in 2001 and in 2003 a three-minute version was leaked by Kahatani Ltd.

She and Rick both sued the company, but a year later Rick released a longer version of the video saying: “It‘s 18 minutes of full-colour and I think everybody will enjoy it.”

Two months later he struck a deal with a porn studio to sell a 45-minute version of the tape called 1 Night in Paris.
