Phillip Schofield has revealed that he’s been battling laryngitis whilst filming for ITV’s This Morning.
The presenter’s voice sounded croaky as soon as he kicked off the daytime talk show with his co-host Holly Willoughby on Monday (November 29).
59-year-old Phil wanted to share the unfortunate health news with viewers right from the start, but he reassured them that he was actually feeling okay.
Holly jokingly said:” Don’t panic, we haven’t changed his voice to protect his identity.”
She then asked:” What’s going on with you?”
Phil immediately told viewers that he’s been “fully tested” for Covid and received the all-clear.
He replied: “I have been fully tested, I feel amazingly good, but I have a touch of laryngitis.”
Holly then quipped: “So you’re just going to sound kind of sexy, I guess!”
Phil proceeded to put on a dramatically-croaky voice as he said: “I sound a little croaky today so I may do everything like this…”
The studio burst out laughing as he added: “Merry Christmas!”
However, some fans seemed to be concerned for Phil’s health on social media, with fans commenting about Phil’s croaky voice on Twitter.
One viewer said: “Phil sounds a bit croaky”
A second viewer replied to the fan: “He’s got laryngitis but he feels fine so he’s soldiering on”
A third said: “Phil still working even with a sore throat. He obviously didn’t want to miss out on the studio’s Christmas decorations reveal.”
A fourth wrote: “Phil’s clearly got a cold should be home.”
According to the NHS website, laryngitis is when your vocal cords in the throat become irritated or swollen, and it usually goes away by itself within 1 to two weeks.
