This Morning star Phillip Schofield left an emotional message live on-air for his usual co-presenter Holly Willoughby on Wednesday, as she was forced to miss the show once more due to sickness.
Holly called in sick last minute on Tuesday and was replaced in the line-up by Josie Gibson – and on Wednesday she still wasn’t feeling well.
Turning to face the camera, Phillip explained the pair had been texting each other, and detailed Holly’s mysterious stomach bug.
“It was last minute Holly got her tummy bug,” he explained. “I was texting Holly all day yesterday afternoon and apparently it’s a tummy bug that is going round everywhere, everyone’s got it.
“And it’s sort of a two day thing, so she’s lost her appetite, so it’s pointless her coming in because we’ve got such lovely food in today!”
Josie quipped: “Well, that’s the reason I’m here!”
Phillip then added: “Morning, Holls. I hope you’re all right, and I’ll text you later – and we’ll probably see you tomorrow.”
Josie explained that her “witchy” friend Margaret – who she met on the show during a phone-in – had once again accurately predicted that she would be replacing Holly.
Margaret initially told her during a Monday night phone call that Josie would fill Holly’s shoes on Tuesday – and then on Tuesday night said she would be appearing again on Wednesday.
She said: “Well, weirdly, I rang Margaret straight after the show.
“If anyone can’t remember Margaret, I went for a walk with her and she phoned up, and she was a bit lonely, wasn’t she?”
Phil explained: “This is in a phone-in that we had on here, pretty much round about the lockdown time. And Margaret was really, really struggling, and so she was adorable on the telly but she was lonely. And so you adopted her? Or she adopted you?”
Josie replied: “Well, Margaret’s very, very special. And she said you’re going to get a call – you’re going back on tomorrow.
“She said you’re gonna be back on today. And I went, ‘Well Holly might be better’, and she went, ‘Nope, you’re going back on today’.
“And I want Holly to get better, by the way!” Josie giggled. “I can only wing it for so much!”
It came as Holly penned a sweet Instagram post praising Josie for her presenting skills.
She wrote: “Thank you @josiegibson85 for saving the day yesterday… you are a dream! I’ll be back as soon as I’m in no threat of vomiting on @schofe!”, adding a sick-faced emoji to her post.
This Morning airs from 10am weekdays on ITV.
