Former Good Morning Britain co-anchor Piers Morgan has claimed that ITV bosses blocked his emails ahead of him stepping down from the show.
The 56-year-old ex Britain’s Got Talent judge walked away from the hugely successful breakfast TV show after refusing to apologise for his comments pertaining to Meghan Markle.
Piers’ landmark final episode on the show saw him storm off-set after clashing with weather forecaster Alex Beresford, as they took differing stances on Meghan Markle.
Alex came on to discuss the former senior royal with Piers following his now infamous rant about her during his penultimate episode on the show. It went on become the most complained about moment in television history.
As well as being the most complained about moment, it also became GMB’s most watched, with Piers and Susanna overtaking BBC Breakfast in the viewer stakes for the first time.
Piers has now claimed to The Sun that he never got to view the ratings success for himself because ITV allegedly deactivated his email account.
Piers has since claimed that ITV bosses have approached him to return to Good Morning Britain amid the show’s plummeting ratings.
The TV presenter told the publication: “I have had some quite random third party feelers put out to see if I would consider a return to the show.
“I don’t want to say on the record who, but a pretty close third party… As the Americans say, they reached out – there have been approaches to test the water in the wake of their obvious ratings issues.
“It makes me sad to see all the hard work we did to beat the BBC in viewing numbers evaporate so fast. It’s their problem to work out… but never say never.”
Piers teased that he may return to the show but with one big condition.
He shared that he would “seriously consider” it “if I could rip it all up and do it my way”.
