Piers Morgan is expected to stay at ITV despite quitting Good Morning Britain.
The controversial presenter left the show earlier this week after widespread criticism for his comments about Meghan Markle’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.
And Piers, who worked on GMB for six years, also refused to say sorry on air for his heated clash with the show’s weatherman Alex Beresford.
But despite GMB receiving more than 41,000 Ofcom complaints and losing 300,000 viewers following his shock exit, the popular outspoken host is set to stay.
An ITV insider told The Sun Piers will “stay at ITV” and “continue to make programmes for the channel”.
Daily Star has contacted Piers’ spokeswoman for comment.
Piers has worked with ITV on his popular Life Stories since 2009.
However, the 55-year-old has categorically ruled out returning to GMB despite a growing petition to reinstate him having passed 200,000 signatures.
“I won’t be going back, but thanks to everyone who has signed these petitions,” Piers told his 7.8milllion Twitter followers.
GMB’s ratings dropped drastically following Piers’ unplanned exit, with arch-rival BBC Breakfast closing the gap in the ratings war.

Viewers fell from 1.7milllion to 1.4million and, although Piers has received plenty of criticism for his GMB comments, has also since received an outpouring of support.
“Normally, people start petitions to have me fired or deported, so this is a pleasant surprise,” reflected Piers on social media.
The petition “Save Piers Morgan from being sacked from GMB” quickly gathered pace.
It read: “This is an absolute farce.
“This man has stuck by our NHS when many others didn’t care including our government!

“He confronts the politicians on questions many of us want answering!
“He sponsored sir captain Tom £10,000 to start him off to support our NHS!

Despite leaving GMB, Piers has had something to smile about following the new his book as climbed to number two in the Amazon best-seller charts.
Piers recently posted a photo of his book “Wake Up: Why the world has gone nuts” on his Twitter account.
And his eldest son Spencer Morgan used his Twitter account to reveal a welcome level support for his under-fire dad.
“Wow. Just went on one of them lame covid walks with Piers Morgan – the level of public support on the street was actually mind blowing,” stressed Spencer.
“The social media bubble is fake. Team Piers is real. And it’s huge.”
