Piers Morgan did not take kindly to a Twitter user goading him ahead of England’s Euro 2020 final match against Italy.
One brave social media user tweeted “Tonight @piersmorgan will be sat in an executive box cheering England on.
“This is the man that attacked Raheem Sterling and called the players ‘woke.’ History will judge him”
Never one to back down from an argument – apart from when he’s storming off a television show – Piers quickly responded.
He tweeted Chris and shared with his own 7.9 million followers:

Hitting back, Susanna Reid’s co-star penned: “a) I’ll be in the main crowd, not a box.
“b) I never called the players woke & have always supported them taking the knee.
“c) I get on very well with Raheem.. in fact we were texting each other last night. You’re right about one thing though – I’ll be cheering England on.”

While the claims may have been shut down by Piers, 56, it’s fair to say that he and Manchester City and England ace Raheem, 26, have some history.
In July 2015, the young footballer was on the verge of completing a £49million transfer from Liverpool to Manchester City. Just days before the deal was sealed, Morgan tweeted: “If Raheem Sterling’s worth £49million then I’m an Aardvark.”
The comment went under the radar at the time, but Sterling clearly know how to play the long game.
In July 2020, he posted three laughing emojis alongside the comment: “Now this is even funnier Piers.” As now probably the most valuable player in the Premier League, he had good reason to boast.
Piers took the comeback in good humour, tweeting Sterling: “Haha, touche! I meant you were worth a lot MORE than £49million, Raheem… obviously.”
